Ask Jacob Medlin anything

Jacob holds degrees in horn performance from UNC Chapel Hill and Indiana University. While at IU for his masters, he began an intensive two year apprenticeship and life-long friendship with the great builder of natural horns Richard Seraphinoff. Rick's most important lessons were about integrity and respect for the craft of hand work, lessons that were deeply impactful. 
In 2008, Medlin Horns was launched and work began in earnest to translate the volumes of knowledge from Rick into a modern horn design. After a few years of independence in Bloomington (with frequent trips back to Ricks to use this or that), the shop moved to Greensboro, North Carolina where Jacob and his wife Jen currently live.
Jacob is a full time horn builder, but takes opportunities to play with the NC Symphony, Opera, and Theater orchestras. In the little bits of free time that can be managed, Jacob enjoys cooking, soccer, woodworking, and coffee.
